Redcar is genuinely one of the best places in Teesside to own a dog. The beach runs for miles — open, flat and brilliant for recall training once your dog is ready for it. Locke Park in the town centre offers mature trees and open grass, a good mix of environments for training at different stages. And Coatham Marshes Nature Reserve, just west of the town, is a quieter, low-distraction spot that is excellent for reactive or anxious dogs who need space to build confidence without being overwhelmed.

Beach recall is one of those training goals that is either amazing or terrifying, depending on your dog. Damian is based in Middlesbrough TS4 and travels to Redcar for one-to-one sessions, around 20 to 25 minutes away. He works with puppies from 8 weeks upwards, with adult dogs on recall, lead walking and behaviour issues, and with reactive dogs who struggle in busy coastal and park environments. Board and train at £75 per day is also available — popular with Redcar owners heading away who want their dog to come back calmer and better trained.
